There is more to a remodel than what meets the eye. What lies behind the walls, under the floors, and in the original building plan can create a challenge few wish to take on. Yet, revitalizing an old space can spark joy beyond expectation. Like watering a wilting flower, or rekindling an old friendship - remodels remind us hope is within reach.
Remodels
The previous owners had partially dismantled the home, abandoning their renovation when the work-load became too great. Here the original kitchen includes a hot-water tank, window frame over the sink, and a blank wall where the closet from another room ate up 4' of floor space.
Tearing out the old lower and upper cabinets, moving the sink and carving back the wall behind it, the space was given room to breathe, with windows in view from everywhere. The closet was relocated, along with the hot water tank, allowing us to build an enclosed fridge space flush with the living room wall. White shaker cabinets with cast-concrete countertops finished the space beautifully.
Having relocated a doorway, closet, hot water tank, and removing a wall, we installed a comfortable and continuous stair case, correcting the steps with a 7" rise and 10.5" run, and finishing with colour-matched pine to bridge the 1st and 2nd floor stains.

Building is a dirty job - sawdust, adhesives, scraps, stains, not to mention harmful airborne particles. While these things are innate to deconstruction and fabrication, we have always been known for a clean working environment. Using the most advanced on-site dust extraction system integrated into our tool workflow, our workspace is as clean as it gets for construction - with "99.995% of harmful airborne dust" removed from every saw cut or sanding pass. Go ahead, eat off our portable work bench!
